Teens Find New Use for E-Cigarette: Vaping Marijuana (USA Today, Christine Rushton)

Posted on

On September 9th, USA Today reported on findings from a Yale University survey published in the medical journal Pediatrics. 4,000 Connecticut high students were surveyed and the results showed that teens are using e-cigarette vaporizers to inhale marijuana.
The study found:

  • 27% of high school students who have used marijuana and e-cigarettes reported using the devices to vaporize marijuana.
  • 28% of students tried e-cigarettes.

The researchers concluded that using e-cigarettes to intake marijuana allows teens to hide what they are inhaling. More research is needed on the health effects of vaporized marijuana via e-cigarette usage.
