NJ Panel OK’s Bill Banning Smoking in Vehicles when Kids Present (6ABC Action News)

Posted on

The New Jersey Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens committee passed a ban on smoking in cars with children present, in an 8-0 vote on Monday June 15, 2015.

The proposed smoking ban would be a secondary offense, meaning violators could only be cited if drivers are stopped for committing a moving violation. Violators would face a $100 fine, but would not face surcharges or points on their driving or insurance records.

GASP provided educational testimony at this committee hearing.
