The New Jersey Herald reported that Newton, NJ’s City Council is considering an amendment to its zoning ordinance that lists specific types of businesses allowed in various commercial zones, and the list does not include vapor stores and tobacconists as a permitted use.
As noted by the Herald,  “the proposed ordinance defines what is a vapor store and what is a tobacconist — 25 percent or more retail space devoted to the sale of either product.  A vapor store includes the sale of what are known as e-cigarettes, while tobacconist sells the more traditional tobacco products.  The second reading is scheduled for May 11. Read the proposed ordinance that passed on 1st reading on April 13.
