The Trenton City Council is considering an ordinance that would ban smoking in city parks. Any form of smoking, cigars, hookah, cigarettes and electronic smoking devices would be banned. The council considered a similar ordinance in February of this year and in 2013. The ordinance would extend to all city parks, recreational areas, city facilities and inside city vehicles.

  • Violators would be subject to a $50-100 dollar fine the first time, $100-200 for a second offense, and between $200-500 for subsequent offenses.
  • All parks would have signs designating them a smoke-free zone, which the city’s Health Department would enforce.
