*Smokefree parks bill voted through NJ Assembly Tourism Committee (Asbury Park, Associated Press, Brick Shorebeat)

On February 22, 2016 the NJ Assembly Tourism Committee unanimously voted through Assembly bill A893 that will make all public parks, recreational areas and beaches smokefree. This covers state, county and local properties.

Exempted are golf courses, wildlife refuges, reservoirs and up to 15% of beach property.  Last session’s bill A1080 was vetoed by Governor Christie on 9-11-14.  GASP provided testimony at the Committee hearing on A893.  Read the news coverage, many of which quoted from GASP:
