On September 14, 2015 ABA Journal reported from Law360 that a Pensacola Circuit Court jury awarded a total of $34.7 million in damages to the family of Garry O’Hara, a decorated Air Force Sergeant, who died from cancer in 1996. O’Hara was only 50 years old. The case emerged as a result of the landmark Engle tobacco class-action suit in Florida which can be read from the National Trial Lawyers.

According to Law360 the jury only needed a few hours to determine the amount to be awarded. The jury found that O’Hara was only 15 percent liable for his own death.
