Ifs, Ands or Butts: Barnegat Light, NJ Proposes Smoking Ban on Beaches

The Sandpaper news magazine reported on a June 10th hearing in Barnegat Light during which an ordinance regarding a bill that would ban smoking on beaches.

The bill comes from many complaints about smoking on the beach and left behind cigarette butt and is similar to ordinances carried out by Harvey Cedars and Ship Bottom which ban smoking when lifeguards are on duty.

The town’s next meeting will be July 8th, however they have not announced whether the bill will be on the agenda.
