Solutions
- how smokefree casinos can be achieved - how you can make
it happen
1.
Casinos can voluntarily establish smokefree policies.
If you'd
like to support this option, advocate this suggestion in Letters
to the Editor sections of newspapers and other public policy
forums. You can also contact casinos directly with your request.
2.
Local or state legislation could make Atlantic City casinos
smokefree.
To support
the Atlantic City ordinance, contact Council President William
Marsh, City Hall, 1301 Bacharach Blvd., Atlantic City, NJ
08401; fax 609 347-9476; phone 609 347-5257; email, wmarsh@cityofatlanticcity.org.
You can
also advocate local legislation in public policy forums, including
Letters to the Editor section of newspapers. You can sign
a petition in favor of local and state legislation to make
casinos smokefree on smokefreecasinos.com. (For information
on the authority of local governments to take action, see
Using local laws to
enhance and augment the New Jersey Smoke-Free Air Act.)
To support
expanding the New Jersey Smoke-Free Air Act to include casino
gambling areas, you can:
- write
a letter to be faxed to key legislators and the Governor
via www.smokefree.net/nj
- find
your legislators via your local library or www.njleg.state.nj.us,
in the left hand column, under members, click on "find
your legislator".
- sign
a petition in favor of local and state legislation to make
casinos smokefree on www.smokefreecasinos.com.
