The
reason for the PwC report; PwC's connection with the tobacco
industry
New Jersey
GASP reached out to the casinos in New Jersey, to give them
empirical data that smokefree gambling need not be an economic
problem for casinos. On 25 October 2005, New Jersey GASP's
Executive Director, attorney, and government relations consultant
met with Mark Sandson, attorney for New Jersey casinos. Sandson
met with us for 90 minutes, thanked us, showed a lively interest
in our information, and asked for (and was given) six copies
of our big notebooks full of information to present to his
clients.
The casinos'
response was to commission PricewaterhouseCoopers to do a
rebuttal report. That report was released November 17, 2005.
PricewaterhouseCoopers
is the auditor for Altria, which derives its largest profits
from its several Philip Morris companies. Here's
the page from the Altria website which identified PwC as its
auditor.
