England and Northern Ireland ban vending machine cigarette sales (Irish Dentist)

The sale of cigarettes through vending machines has been made illegal in both England and Northern Ireland. This can help protect children since vending machines are a convenient method for underage tobacco users to purchase cigarettes. Englands ban took effect October 1, 2011. The ban for Northern Ireland will take effect February 1, 2012. Scotland and Wales are planning to introduce similar legislation. Read thenews story.
