CDC Makes Case for Including E-cigarettes in Clean Indoor Air Laws

In a blog post by Dr. Stanton Glantz, an expert on tobacco control from UCSF, posted on the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education website, reviews of the CDC’s statements in “State Laws Prohibiting Sales to Minors and Indoor Use of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems — United States, November 2014,” in MMWR. In this publication, the CDC found that there not only needs to be laws addressing youth access to electronic smoking devices but further support for state-level indoor clean air laws. The CDC notes that adopting smoke-free policies which include electronic smoking devices result in diminished social acceptability of smoking.
